| Our Rates Are Highly Competitive: We charge by the page for general transcription. Our page contains 23-25 lines (230-250 words), and the rate is determined by the type of recording, the expected delivery of the transcript, and the quality of the audio. Specific Rates for General Transcription: 1. Single speaker (speeches, dictations, lectures):
2. Two speakers or one-on-one interviews (one interviewer and one interviewee):
3. Three or more speakers, for example business meetings, conferences with Q&A, press briefings with Q&A, conference calls, 1 interviewer with 2 interviewees:
4. Focus groups or round table discussions involving 3 or more speakers. The difference between #3 above and #4 is that there are usually cross-talkings in focus groups and round table discussions:
Notes for General Transcription: Additional charge for rush - 24-hour, 2-day, or 3-4 business day delivery. All rates apply to clear and audible recording, with native or near-native English speakers, discussing general knowledge, as opposed to highly technical content. Please call for an estimate of your work. Difficult audio, such as "foreign" accents or non-native English speakers, audio source far from speakers, technical words (medical, legal, foreign words, industry- specific words, etc.), meetings with many cross-talking such as focus groups, loud background noise that interferes from understanding the speaker's words, etc. is charged extra. These difficult audio take more time to transcribe as we need to re-listen, sometimes over and over again. If you have a question about your audio, please give us a call and we can provide an estimate of your work. All documents are formatted with 1 inch margins all around, Courier New 12 font, double spaced page. For single-spaced, specific formats, or technical content, please call. Rates apply to digital audio transferred directly to our secure site or downloaded from your site/ftp. Tape cassettes, DVDs/VHS charged more. There is no minimum charge for all customers. Please deliver the audio to be transcribed to our office and include with the package a business card, an agenda or a list of speakers, if any. Also, make sure all tapes/audio are labeled properly. If you wish these tapes returned, please send a courier to pick them up, or send us a prepaid envelope. Please see our FAQ page for questions you might have, including a general idea of how many pages per hour of audio. We accept Check, Debit Card, Visa, and MasterCard payments. |

| What kinds of audiofiles do you transcribe? Digital and analog recordings. We have a secure site where you can upload your digital soundfiles - such as mp3, wav, avi, RealPlay, webcast, others. There is extra charge for analog tapes - regular or micro cassettes, and DVDs/VHS tapes. Why is there extra charge for analog audio and DVDs/VHS tapes? We charge extra for analog tapes - regular or micro cassettes, and DVDs/VHS tapes since we have to convert these to digital audio for our transcriptionists. In other words, it takes more of our time to process analog tapes and videos. How do I send you our digital recording for transcription? We will provide a secure site for you to upload your digital recording or send us the link or ftp site with directions. For tapes, VHS, DVDs or CD-ROMs send these to us by courier, FedEx, UPS, or other method. How much would an hour of tape recording cost to transcribe? Unlike other services, we charge by the page. Our lowest rate starts at $2.50 per page for a single speaker (see rates page). An hour of tape can yield from 25-30 double-spaced pages. Call us for an estimate of your work. Is there an extra charge for transcribing VHS or DVD? Yes. There is an extra charge of $10 per VHS tapes or DVD for transferring the audio portion. Why would it take 3 hours to transcribe an hour of audio if it's only 1 hour? A person speaks about 180-250 words per minute, while a transcriptionist can transcribe about 8 to 12 pages an hour, depending upon the quality of the tape. Speeches and interviews are easier to transcribe than focus groups or business meetings. What do you consider difficult audio and why am I being charge more for them? Difficult audio can be as follows: "Foreign" accents or non-native English speakers, audio source far from speakers, technical words (medical, legal, foreign words, industry-specific words, etc.), meetings with many cross-talking such as focus groups, loud background noise that interferes with understanding the speaker's words, etc. These difficult audio take more time to transcribe as we need to relisten, sometimes over and over again. If you have a question about your audio, please give us a call and we can provide an estimate of your work. How do you deliver transcripts? Transcripts are e-mailed as a Word document attachment. Do you pick up and deliver? No, we do not. Please send your tapes/DVDs/VHS by messenger, UPS, FedEx, or any secure courier service to our office. Can you transcribe hard to hear audio? Remember, we can only transcribe what we can clearly hear. If you have difficulty understanding a speaker, then more than likely we will too. I only want a certain speaker transcribed - can you do that? Yes, if we can easily distinguish the speaker's voice that you wished transcribed. For example, in a one-on-one interview, and you only want the Interviewee's answers transcribed, we can do this, however you will be charged more than one speaker, but less than 2 speakers. Why? Because we still need to listen to the Interviewer to get to the Interviewee's answers. If you can remove all of the Interviewer's voice audio, then we will charge you the 1 speaker rate. Do you return our tapes/CDs/DVDs/VHS back? No, please send us copies. We are not responsible for any original recording that you send us. Yes, we will return your audio if you make pre-paid return arrangement -- prepaid self addressed FedEx, etc. -- we do not return them via the Post Office. Do you transcribe medical reports? No, we do not. However, we do accept audios of meeting, conference, etc. that has medical words. We consider that technical and charge accordingly. I have other questions not covered here.
